Today is fabulous!

Today is my wedding anniversary, 28 years, so a big shout out to my lovely hubby and yesterday my oldest grandson was 12, 12! oh my goodness where have those years gone?

Here are the last three cards for my Simply Cards and Papercraft commission using Nitwits Idyllic digital scrapbooking kit.
These cards have lots of decoupage layers, I love adding decoupage to my cards, but sometimes I don't know when to stop! I know it is not everyone's cup of tea, but the cards can easily be made by just doubling up the image with foam pads in between, rather than doing all the decoupage layers.

On this card the hat is made up of about 5 layers of decoupage and the flower about 7, see I told you I don't know when to stop LOL!.

For this card I used the three label tags from the Lil'Bits elements kit, and re-sized them so that each one was smaller than the one before I turned them on their sides and layered them up with foam pads. The stopper and butterfly are both made up of two layers and the bow which is also from the kit is made up of three layers.

Lots of cutting out on this one, after gluing the border papers to each end I cut around them to give shaped edges, then decoupaged up the window box, flowers and butterfly.

Thanks for dropping by to take a look,
take care,

Santa Claus is coming to town!

Whoa! don't get overexcited, he's not coming just yet, you've still got plenty of time to do your Christmas shopping, but if you are making your own Christmas cards you should be well underway by now, and if you need a little help then look no further than the latest Tonic bookazine, which is in the shops now and comes complete with a free kit containing a carol singer die set, winter village embossing folder, various stamps and papers.

I had a little commission for the bookazine, which entailed using some of the kit, with purple, lilac, pink and silver papers from my stash along with glitter and bling.

Here's what I came up with.

All the carol singers were made using the included dies, and the sentiment is one of the stamps from the kit.

The images and sentiment are all stamps from the free kit.

and here is the embossing folder in all it's glory, it is embossed into silver mirror card, but no matter how much I tried I just couldn't get a decent photo, so just had to use the best of a bad bunch.

The cardstock and papers where either in my stash or my scrap box, I only used the dies and stamps that came in the kit and a few little embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look,
hugs,

Idyllic!

I have some cards in the latest issue of Simply Cards and Papercraft, using the fabulous Nitwits Idyllic collection, I thoroughly enjoyed making the cards for this commission as digital is my first love!
I am also a bit of a decoupage-aholic so about half of the six cards I made have lots of layers, the others just have some layers, today I will show you the ones with the least amount of cutting out.

The cards use papers and images from Nitwits fqb Idyllic digital scrapbooking kit and Lil' Bits Idyllic digital elements, the top one has the addition of ribbon, glitter and gems, the middle one, lace, glitter and gems and the bottom one punched flowers, ribbon, buttons and gems. I certainly had a gem fest LOL!
As usual all ribbons, gems and pearls are from Meiflower

The kits are fabulous, full of beautiful papers, great images and lots of pretty labels, tags and journal cards, you should definitely check them out.

Wedding invitations 4

A couple more of the wedding invitation samples I did for Meiflower. I did 8 in total so only 2 more to post after these.

I used 25mm satin ribbon under the lace which I bought locally, and the matching 10mm over, I also mounted the pearl flower embellishment over the lace diamante buckle to make a combined topper.

For this one I cut the filigree heart from the kraft card before layering over cream card, the die is from the Forever in my Heart signature collection at Crafters Companion. I think the burlap and lace ribbon was from Home Bargains, as usual the satin ribbon and diamante heart embellishment are from Meiflower.

Dragonflies and a bee!

Here are the final two cards made using the free kit from the Apple Blossom Summer Special kit and magazine.

The dragonfly, bee and flower dies stamps and papers are all included in the free kit.

The die-cut bee is attached to acetate which is held to the card with a brad which is hidden underneath the flower garden and can be 'flown' across the card towards the hive.

Apple Blossom Summer Special

A few days ago the Apple Blossom Summer special arrived in the shops, the magazine comes with a fab free kit containing dies, stamps, an embossing folder, a stencil and papers. I was given a commission to make 5 cards using the elements of the kit.

Here are a few of the cards I came up with.

The papers, flower and bee die and the sentiment are all part of the free kit, the doily frame is from First Edition nesting doily dies and the ribbon and gems are from meiflower. I die-cut the bee twice from black card, and stuck them together before adding some split rings to make the dangling bee charm.
The shaker boxes were made using Sizzix nesting hexagon dies, the sentiment and images in the shaker boxes are stamps from the free kit as is the die for the little bees.

This card uses papers and a sentiment topper, as well as the dragonfly stamp from the free kit.

Simply cards and papercraft 165 and free papers

I have some cards to show you that were made for the latest issue of Simply Cards and Papercraft which is in the shops today.
I was given some digi stamps to play with from the Kate Hadfield Animal Antics collection and a colour scheme of deep pink, blue, yellow, green and purple.
After looking around for papers to suit the colour scheme I decided to design my own, and if you like the look of them you can download them for free from HERE, there are 18 papers all together, 12 patterned and 6 plain. You can also download the digi stamps for free too.

... and now changing the subject completely... a little tale about one of my senior moments...

I have owned a Kindle for quite a few years now, and it has become the normal way to read a book - read a page, click on the right hand side of the screen and the next page appears, simple! - but I have recently joined a sewing group in my local library and sitting there surrounded by books, occasionally something will catch my eye that looks interesting.
In the end I dug out my library card and borrowed a "proper" book, I sat down to read, but found it a struggle to hold the book as it was quite large and cumbersome, not small and light like my Kindle, but then I did the stupidest thing ever! after reading the first page, I automatically pressed the corner of the book to turn the page LOL!, when it didn't change I pressed again, totally perplexed as to why it wasn't changing, duh! once I  realised what I was doing, I had a little giggle to myself at my own stupidity and carried on reading, but every now and then without thinking I would press the edge of the page to turn over, what a doofus!.

I have read several "proper" books now and am once again used to the feel and weight of holding a book and the huge effort it takes (hehe)! to manually turn the pages.

Wedding invitations 3

Today I have the last two of the wedding invitation samples I did for Meiflower.

For this one I cut the filigree design on my Silhouette machine from white card, then added embossed Lilac Centura pearl panels top and bottom using the Cuttlebug D'vine swirls embossing folder. I added lilac stick on gems in various sizes to the flower centres, a pair of diamante wedding rings to the heart and a crystal diamante square to the bow.

The background on this one is a Nitwits paper from my scrap box, the tag was made with JoyCrafts labels and tags 6002/0144 using Centura pink pearl card for the background, the 25mm ribbon and double D diamante buckles are from Meiflower.

That's it for the wedding invitation samples for this year.

Wedding invitation samples 2

A couple more of the samples I did for Meiflower.

This is a very simple design with plenty of space above and below to add names, dates etc.
The paper is from Nitwits, but not sure which collection as it was in my scrap box.
25mm satin ribbon and square diamante topper are both from Meiflower

Hearts were cut with a Sizzix heart die, the cerise heart was then embossed, the 4mm satin ribbon, barbie pink gems and tiny circle buckle are all from Meiflower.

Wedding invitation samples 1

Every year I make Meiflower some wedding invitation samples using her gems, pearls, ribbons and diamante embellishments, and I normally show them on my blog much earlier in the year, but this year, even though the samples have been made for some months I am only just getting around to posting them.

Here I've used 25mm satin ribbon and a double heart diamante slider.
the silver glitter panel is actually wallpaper!

As well as a Sizzix heart die and LaLaLand crafts heart corner die I have once again used 25mm satin ribbon, diamante heart buckles and stick on gems in varying sizes.

I will be back with more in a few days,

Die cutting essentials Special Vol 5.

Today I have some cards to show you made using the free dies that come with the Die cutting Essentials Special, which will be on the shelves today. The commission was to use the dies to make 3 card blanks using shades of blue, teal and gold.

The digi stamp is called Sunshine and is available from The Paper Shelter, the flowers are made using an x-cut daisy punch, the lattice panels and leaf strip are freebies in the magazine and the sentiment is computer generated.

The papers on all the cards are from various Nitwit kits and the large flower above is made using LeCrea multi dies - multi die flower 002.

The punched border uses Tonic Simplicity geared punch - Dotty Border.

Ted, Unicorn, penguin and cards

Over the last 18 months or so I have rekindled my love for crochet, it has been my therapy, helping me get through the days since my youngest daughter passed away in 2015.

I have been crocheting since I was 10 years old, self taught from a leaflet I was given in school, at the time I didn't know anyone else who crocheted and so for a long time I have always wondered if I was doing it right. Fast forward to the present, with the internet, Pinterest and You tube, and not only have I finally discovered that I was doing it right, but I have learnt sooo much more in the past 18 months than I did in the previous 40 odd years.

One of the techniques I have learned is Amigurumi, thanks to some fabulous You tube tutorials. I though you might like to see a few of the things I produced.

Pink ted was the first Amigurumi item I made, I sat in front of THIS youtube video for hours, following along step by step until it was done. The lilac baby blanket in the background is another one of my makes and is currently sitting in a box in a wardrobe along with half a dozen other blankets I've made.

My penguin was made from a pattern in Crochet Now magazine and lives in my house with me, 'cos I have a thing for penguins.

The unicorn was a pattern in Love Crochet magazine and now lives with my oldest daughters six year old niece, 'cos she has a thing for unicorns LOL!

I also have the two remaining cards from the May Tonic Bookazine to share with you,

The panels on this card are embossed using the folder that comes in the free kit, unfortunately the embossing on the yellow panel doesn't show up too well in the photo, but it has diagonal rows of happy birthday in different fonts embossed on it.

This card uses some of the stamps from the free kit, (balloons, bunting and sentiment) the background papers are also included in the kit.
